Lobi Stars supremo, Dominic Iorfa, has revealed that the club’s jerseys for the 2012/2013 season symbolize the unique tradition of the Benue people.

The jerseys for the new season were unveiled recently by Nigeria’s leading sportswear brand, OWU Sportswear, at an impressive ceremony organised by celebrated Sports PR Consultant, Ojeikere Aikhoje.

Lobi’s duo of Ezekiel Bassey and Tony Okpotu, who are fringe players of the Super Eagles, modeled the jerseys.
“The new jerseys represent the Tiv, Idoma and Igede tribes in Benue State.

“Black and White is the Tiv colour, Black and Red is the Idoma colour, while Black and Blue signifies the Igede people in Benue State,” Iorfa said on his personal blog, iorfaonline.blogspot.com.

The former QPR and Galatasaray forward reiterated the fact that the colours will boost local support from communities in the state.
“The Benue people represent our immediate community and we have to attract them”, he told iorfaonline.blogspot.com.

Off the pitch, OWU Sportswear has made provision for replicas so fans can also show their support for their darling team.

In recent times, Lobi have emerged as the only club in Nigeria’s top flight that develops homegrown players.

Okpotu is one of the homegrown players dscovered by Iorfa, who emerged Best NPL Manager at last year's League Bloggers Awards (LBA).

Lobi Stars will begin the new term with a road trip at Bayelsa United on Sunday, March 10.
