Madu, Simon up and running

Nigeria youth internationals Kingsley Madu and Moses 'Daddy' Ajala got off their European career to a great start as they helped FK AS Trecin beat MSK Zilina in the Corgon Liga in Slovakia.

The youngsters, who were part of the Nigerian team that lost out to Uruguay in the second round of the 2013 World Youth Championship held in Turkey, made the move to the Slovakian side during the winter transfer window.

The Corgon Liga went for the winter break and used the window to reinforce their team with the exciting youngsters and threw them into the deep end when the league resumed on March 1.

Madu, who is an exciting defender, can play at centre back and at left back, which was where he made his first start for the club on his official debut.

Simon, who can play as a second striker or on the wings was introduced into the game as a 66 minute substitute ,and he made an immediate impact as he provided an assist to help his team rally back from a goal down to win the game 2-1, at the Štadión na Sihoti, Trecin's home ground.

"Believe it or not, it was just another game for me. I hardly felt any butterflies like some teammates suggested.'"he told supersport.com.

"Everything just fell in place, and I'm glad it started off on a winning note. I want to do well with this team."

Simon also hopes to continue to impress so that he can win a regular starters shirt in the team.

"Our training camp in Turkey went well and I learnt a lot during that time, the team tactics and I got to know my mates as well.

"I hope to grab a starting berth in the team soon. If i can prove what i can do on the pitch, I'm sure it will happen. It's just a matter of time."Simon, popularly called 'Daddy' enthused.

AS Trecin are placed second on the Corgon Liga table with 39 points after 20 rounds of matches.
