My Nigeria starting X1

Nigeria's friendly with South Africa has elicited a lot of debate on social media especially as regards who deserves to be called up or not.

Since the Nations Cup ouster, we've not had a full complement of the squad play together ( Yes, I know about the Ivory Coast and Jordan friendly in January), so this an opportunity to see who makes the cut or how the starting line up will look like.

We still have to sort out the issue of the coach first, but I have an inkling Daniel Amokachi will lead the team to Mpumalanga.

I've decided to draw up my own list of players. Okay, scratch that. I've drawn up my first eleven who I think should start at the Mbombela Stadium given all goes well between now and the 29th of March.

Please do me a favor, this is just my opinion, it's not binding oh! Some of y'all take me too serious especially on twitter. Please feel free to disagree or agree. In fact send me yours so I can do another post as regards that.

So here is my Naija starting eleven

Vincent Enyeama is a no brainer in goal except something is wrong with you (na joke oh!). Leon Balogun goes in at right back while Ambrose, who usually occupies that slot will be a one part of the centre half position which he would share with Kenneth Omerou.

Elderson Echiejile nicks the left back slot for me. He has done pretty well this season.

I had a hard time trying to get the right combo for the midfield, in fact, it was the hardest selection I had to make, but it had to me done.

I've gone for a more conservative four man midfield. A little tweak would be the player o the wide areas will fall back into the middle to stifle that area if Nigeria has to defend, while I expect them to be at the devastating best on the offensive.

Moses Simon of Gent and Victor Moses will be the wide men while John Ogu and Anderson Esiti will provide steel in the middle.

Ogu can venture forward to help because he is more technical than Esiti and packs bullets in his boots. Esiti should be a shield for the back four because of his raw strength and tackling abilities.

Cologne's Anthony Ujah and Odion Ighalo, who has set the Championship on fire this season will be the twin pair in attack.

I believe with this squad, we can do a number on the Bafana Bafana.

Do you agree? Disagree? Oya hail me on twitter with your starting X1 and I promise to do the graphics and publish here. I'll be waiting.
