Falcons are African champions again..

So we are champions of Africa again.

The Falcons did us proud in Cameroon defeating the hosts 1-0 in the final game.

Nigeria's Super Falcons have successfully defended their Africa Women Cup of Nations title by defeating Cameroon 1-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde on Saturday.
EA Guincamp Ladies forward Desire Oparanozie delivered the winner at the death despite the dominance of the hosts in the match.
The opening exchanges were all about the Cameroonians who attacked relentlessly.
Gabrielle Onguene carved out the first chance of the game when she skipped past three Nigerian players before shooting wide from inside the box.
Nigeria's best chance in the opening minutes fell to Vittsjo GIK midfielder Ngozi Okobi, who could only fire over on the turn.

Onguene's pace continued to trouble the Nigerian backline but the Lionness could not make their early attacking play count.
With less than 15 minutes to the break Cameroon had a glorious chance when Madeleine Ngono Mani was left with just Nigeria shot-stopper Jonathan Alaba to beat. The Nigerian goalkeeper did enough to tip away Mani's attempt before Onome Ebi cleared.
The African champions began the restart on the backfoot as Onguene, Deborah Gaelle Enganamouit, Mani and Co kept pressing play.
Twice Mani came close. First she struck a free kick inches over and then followed up another fine attempt at goal, forcing Jonathan to make a timely save to keep the game scoreless.
Inside the final quarter of an hour in regulation time, Enganamouit then took a pop at Nigeria's goal, but Jonathan looked untroubled as she kept her cool to gather the ball.
Seven minutes to time, Onguene was played through on goal but she could only squeeze in a tame shot from a rather difficult angle without troubling Jonathan.

Within a minute and out of the blue, Oparanozie dragged the ball past her marker inside the box and then calmly fired it low and left-footed beyond an outstretched Annette Ngo Ndom in Cameroon's goal.
That was about the only time that the Nigerians made a meaningful move into the goal area of Cameroon in the second 45 minutes.
Nigeria saw off the added time to be crowned African champions for a record eighth time.

Introducing Barca's Godswill Ekpolo

Elohor Godswill Ekpolo sits in the Barcelona dressing room, his Nike Tiempo boots comes off his foot as coach Jordi Vinyals pats him on the head for a great game and for good measure too. The talented right-back had earlier scored for FC Barcelona's Juvenile A squad (equivalent of the Barcelona C team) as they whipped Celtic 3-0 to round up the group stage matches of the 2013/14 Uefa Youth Champions League. The goal was his third in six group stage matches, as Barcelona's Under-19 team ran riot collecting 16 points from a possible 18in a group that also had the youth sides of AC Milan, Ajax and Celtic. Ekpolo is highly rated in the Blaugranas circles and is tipped to become a first team star very soon to follow the footstep of his more illustrious and established La Masia graduates like Carles Poyul, Sergio Busquets, and more recently Cameroonian youngster Jean Marie Dongou.

Shehu Abdullahi joins Al Qadsia

Shehu Abdullahi  (1st right)being unveiled. Pic courtesy Al Qadsia Nigeria international, Shehu Abdullahi, has signed a year deal with Kuwaiti outfit, Al Qadsia Sporting Club, for an undisclosed fee. Abdullahi, 21, penned the deal with the Kuwaiti side after he rebuffed overtures from South Africa, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and a deal with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon fell through at the last minute. The former Kano Pillars midfielder says he is comfortable with the deal as it affords him a new challenge and an avenue to put himself in the window. "I'm really happy with the deal. It's a new challenge that I am looking forward to," he told 9jafooty from his base in Kuwait. "A lot of people were surprised I chose Kuwait, but I am happy. Kuwait will be a springboard to better things. This is just a stepping stone. "I hope to give my all to the fans of the club and also help the team win laurels during my stay here." Abdullah
