Match Day 15 preview: Rivers United versus Heartland

Rivers United and Heartland FC will re-enact their rivalry in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday, April 4 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

The two sides go into Wednesday’s game on the back of contrasting results from match day 13.

United lost by the odd goal in five to Lobi Stars while Heartland beat Nasarawa United 2-1 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on the same day.

Heartland currently occupies the fourth and final relegation spot in the NPFL and will be in desperate need of the points on Wednesday.

United on the other hand, have amassed just one more point than Heartland and know that anything other than an outright victory against Heartland will see them get involved in the relegation Dog fight.

Technical manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma is as experienced as they come and understands that things can change very quickly football and believes his side can climb up the standings rapidly.

“Goal scoring was difficult for us at the beginning of the season but we have started scoring goals now” Eguma told our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.

“We scored two goals in our last game against Lobi Stars.

“I believe we will attain stability by the end of the first round and I am sure that we can reach the top of the league table,” he said.

Heartland’s head coach, Ezekiel Onyegbulem also spoke to our media channel about Wednesday’s match which kicks off at 4pm.
