John Ogu on target for Hapoel Be'er Sheva, sent off

Nigeria international midfielder John Ogu was the major actor in Hapoel Beer Sheva's 2-1 win over Hapoel Petach Tikva in the Israeli Ligat HaAl on Saturday. Ogu, who moved to the team at the start of the season was instrumental in his team's victory at the Vasermil Stadium in Beer Sheva. The former Academica de Coimbra player opened Beer Sheva's account in the 16th minute of the game, powering home a header from a corner kick to set his team on their way.  Watch Ogu's opening goal for Be'er Sheva

Shehu Dikko is new LMC Chairman

Football consultant and marketer, Shehu Dikko has emerged as the new Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) the managers of Nigeria's top flight league- the Glo Premier League. Per a statement released by the League Management Company, Dikko will take over from Nduka Irabor who is still a member of the management team. “Following the endorsement and adoption of the new League Governance structure and the Premier League in Nigeria by the NFF Executive Committee and the subsequent ratification by the General Assembly as well as the approval by the CAC, a new League Board has been given the go ahead by the Club Owners and the League Management Company.”

Siasia names 39 for Gabon clash

Head coach of Nigeria’s Under-23 football team, Samson Siasia, has named a squad of 39 players as he intensifies preparations for the 2015 All Africa Games. Thirty five of the players are locally-based while the remaining four ply their trade in Europe. Siasia said it was time to get into the serious aspect of preparations after initially opening the doors of the squad to no fewer than 1,000 hopeful. "I must commend all those who came for the exercise, that we did not select you does not mean you are not good enough, but the reality is that only 35 players must be selected, and that was the job we did.

Ogu tips Eagles to soar again

Nigeria international, John Ogu, says he was a disappointed man when the Super Eagles failed to pick a ticket for the 2015 Orange/Caf Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Ogu, who has been in fine form for his Israeli side, Hapoel Be'er Sheva this season, was part of the Nigeria squad to the 2013 Confederations Cup, but missed out on the 2014 World Cup train as Nigeria exited in the second round. The 26-year-old, who has not been called up since then, was heartbroken when the team drew 2-2 with South Africa which effectively ended Nigeria's hopes after Congo won away at Sudan in the penultimate Group A match day.

All the 20 Clubs that participated in the recently ended 2013/14 Glo Premier League season have been paid the Financial Merit Award as well as received their television coverage incentive. Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the League Management Company (LMC), Salihu Abubakar confirmed that remittance of the N75m set aside for the season’s Merit Award to the clubs have been completed last week. The LMC had increased by 50% the Glo Premier League annual Merit Distribution Award. It raised the total amount to be shared by the 20 clubs from N50m in the 2012/13 season to N75m in the last season.
