Keshi back in the saddle

Image
The Nigeria Football Federation have finally signed a two year  contract with Stephen Keshi to continue as the Super Eagles coach on  Tuesday in a brief ceremony at the media centre of the National  Stadium, Abuja. Earlier scheduled for Monday last week, the ceremony was postponed  due to the inability of the two parties to reach an agreement. But apparently all has been sorted after a protracted and long  drawn negotiations and the former Mali coach will lead the Super  Eagles for the next two years. The 'Big Boss' speaking after the ceremony said he is willing to  start afresh and wants everyone to be involved as he aims to fly with  the Super Eagles. "This is a new page in Nigerian football and what happened in the  past has happened. I have what it takes to take the country  forward."Keshi told the media after his unveiling.

Odunlami and Aggrey with their strips off. Photo Credit-Kabiru Abubakar Two players of Sunshine Stars who stripped themselves to celebrate their winning goal against Dolphins FC on Match Day 4 in Akure have been suspended for one match each and also fined N50, 000 for indecent exposure and conduct capable of bringing the league to disrepute. Prince Aggrey and Ebenezer Odunlami however has in line to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) framework and regulations, the two players have 48 hours to either submit to the League Management Company (LMC) decision and or elect to be dealt with by a special LMC commission. But it was contrasting fortunes for some Referees who officiated on the same Match Day as the NFF Referees Committee upheld a recommendation of the League Management Company (LMC) to sanction two match officials involved in the fixture in Akure between hosts, Sunshine Stars and Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt.

Giwa shock Rangers International in Enugu

Image
Giwa shock Rangers Int ernational  on home soil. By Olowookere Oluwabusayo It was a sad evening for about 3,000 Enugu Rangers fans who trooped out to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu to cheer their darling team hoping that a home win will be recorded but they didn't reckon with Giwa FC and Shuaibu Ibrahim.  In a match the home side wanted to get a desired result after losing their last game to Gabros FC in their week 3 fixture before the league went on break, they came into the game fielding 6 new signings from the start. Rangers International line up After early exchanges, the Giwa boys settled early into the game with a mindset of not parking the bus but to come out and see if they can actually get a goal, but both sides gave nothing away as the first half ended goalless. On resuming into the second half, the Enugu Rangers boys didn't look like they were up for the game and before they could settle  in, Giwa FC had them on a hanger. A

Nigeria’s Under23 side, the Dream Team V1 have qualified for the football event of the All Africa Games to be held in Congo-Brazzaville in September this year beating Zambia 2-1 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. The Samson Siasia tutored side drew 0-0 with Zambia in the first leg in Abuja a fortnight ago and knew nothing but a win or a score draw will do them any good. Five members of the victorious Flying Eagles at the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal in February were drafted in to beef the squad and one of the new invitees turned out to be the hero for Nigeria.
