A couple of weeks ago ,goalkeeper Racheal Ayebga won the Finnish women's cup with PK-35  and now Cynthia Uwak is a proud winner of the League title in Finland. ABS relegation hurts-Ichull

Image
pic courtest-mtnfootball.com The 2012/2013 Glo Premier League came to a conclusion over the weekend with Kano Pillars retaining the league shield despite the 0-2 reverse in Katsina Ala against Lobi Stars, but the sad part of it all was the eventual relegation of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club. Arguably the best football playing side in the Glo Premier League, many neutrals would have loved to seen them stay up, but unfortunately they will have to campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season. The team is comprised of skill youngsters, whom mostly are products of the Kwara Football Academy in Ilorin, and their style of play has earned them a lot of fans across country.

I stumbled on this article by Kanishk Tharoor ( @kanishktharoor .) and I thought i should share it. Those that were football fans in Nigeria pre-google/internet days will relate to this goal-banger like i did. It's a long article, but if you're patient enough, you'll catch the vibe  Credit must also go to @kenyanpundit @ @ao1379 whom who shared it on twitter.     Though its national team slumps from humiliation to humiliation and its domestic clubs toil in obscurity, India has arrived at least in one sense on football’s international stage: The Asian giant has become an important market for the sport. Football has never been so popular in India as it is now. Its appeal has boomed outside its traditional coastal hotbeds of Kolkata and Goa, fanned by satellite TV and the growth of an aspirational, worldly middle class. A new generation of Indian fans is happy to consume football at a remove, staying up late at night to watch their adopted teams battle in distant stad

Rachael Ayegba doing great things in Finland

Rachael Ayegba continues to impress in Finland as her team PK-35 won the 2013 women Soumen Finnish Cup title for the third time in a row, beating HJK 2-0 in the final played over the weekend.   The former Falcons goalkeeper was in impressive form making some spectacular saves to ensure her team got the better of HJK in a keenly contested final.   Ayegba, who had previously played for Oladimeji Tigress and Ufouma Babes before she moved to Finland in 2005, told 9jafooty exclusively from Finland that she hopes to continue in such stead as the team braces for the European Cup.   "The final was quite intense. We stuck to our game plan, did what the coaches instructed and luckily we pulled it off "HFK were tough, but we kept it simple and fortunately got the goals that gave us the title again.   "This was our third time winning the Finnish Cup in a row, and it clearly shows that we are one of the top women team not only in Finland but in Scandinavia as a whole.&

Abebayo Akinfewa, strongest player on FIFA 14

This is something i picked of on mailonline.co.uk. The story is theirs and all credits have been attributed. You will enjoy the read. 9jafooty. cc In his latest fortnightly column, MailOnline Sport’s Adebayo Akinfenwa talks about officially being the strongest player in the world and why Gillingham are buzzing despite their winless start to the season. It's official, I am the strongest player on FIFA 14. EA Sports tweeted me last week to let me know the good news and I’m honoured.  My younger brother, Dele, was more excited than me at first but he sat me down and drummed home that, in it’s own way, it is quite an achievement. To be recognised as the best in the whole world at something is an achievement.   People may laugh or whatever, but my strength is something that I have to work on. It’s not something that just happens overnight, it takes dedication and hard work and it has a purpose as it helps me every week on the pitch. It's official! EA
