The NFF, the truth and the rest of us.

I honestly don't know why I'm writing this. Maybe it's because my British friend of Sudanese descent had a go at me and my country or the Ghanaian pal on twitter throwing jibes at me and the NFF. Still, maybe it's because of the press release from the Nigeria Football Federation that tried to demonise 'us' as anti-system, or maybe it's just me answering a query by a 'boss'. Enyimba International of Aba beat Warri Wolves in a penalty shootout to win the Federations Cup in a very entertaining match that actually caught the attention of a lot of critics of the local game. 'We' hyped it so much on social media that a lot of folks who wouldn't ordinarily tune their televisions to a Nigerian game actually did and had loads of fun.  Enyimba celebrate their win. Pic- leadershipng.com I got calls from South Africa and Ghana praising the final game and saying Nigeria has a bright future in the game. Loads of others on twitter a

Woke up with a headache and took some medication and headed down to the Super Eagles hotel alongside Oluwashina Okeleji and China Acheru to meet a date with the 'big-boss' Stephen Keshi. With Malawi coach Tom Saintfiet We had to wait a while because he was attending to some other issues, but i was able to meet up after a long while with Charles Anazodo, Jonathan Akpoborie and Segun 'The Pundit' Agbede, we exchanged pleasantries and later caught up with John Ogu and Azubuike Egwuekwe who riddled us with jokes, that giant of a defender is funny as they say he is. The Warri Wolves defender said rumors doing the rounds he has signed for Red Star Belgrade were untrue and will not rush into going to Europe, I was very impressed with his demeanor and self belief. Nigeria should watch out for him in the near future. Stadium getting set Let me not fail to mention that China Acheru kept asking where the best dog meat joints where in town with the aim o

Calabar, clean, serene & lovely I love Calabar, I won't lie, very serene and clean to say the least ( compared to most Nigerian cities) and when it was confirmed that the Super Eagles will play their last Group F match against the flames of Malawi, I was happy that once again I will get to see that beautiful city. My journey started on Thursday as I had an Arik Air flight to catch for 2.05 pm, but as usual the flight was delayed from Abuja to Calabar, fortunately I spent the time hanging out with Kisu Sulola of SportsDay newspapers and Wale Ajayi of AIT and we discussed a variety of issues, mainly sports. ' The best was yet to come at the departure lounge as I bumped into Malawi coach Tom Saintfeit, who surprisingly beckoned on me to come over and we exchanged pleasantries, needless to say he granted me an interview right there are the departure lounge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport which you can read it here on supersport.com. All 23 members of the national team were in full flight at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Thursday evening despite a downpour  with no one sure of which of them will be on the start list on Saturday in the World Cup qualifier against Malawi. Nnamdi Oduamadi and John Ogu were the last two players to arrive and they showed no sign of let up at the wet  pitch of the Calabar’s prime sports arena. Among the crowed who came to catch a glimpse of the African champions were NFF Security Committee, Effiong Johnson, who discussed at will security issues with State’s Sports Commissioner, Hon Patrick Ugbe and FIFA Security chief in Nigeria ACP Gideon Akinsola.

Malawi coach Tom Saintfiet has sounded out the battle cry as his team gets set to do battle with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier slated for this weekend. The Belgian coach spoke exclusively to supersport.com in Abuja shortly before their departure for Calabar and is optimistic of causing an upset against their much heralded opponents.
