Nigeria have been crowned
the African Champions at the U20 level after defeating hosts Senegal 1-0 in a keenly contested final at the Stade Leopold Senghor in Dakar on Sunday.
The Flying Eagles had
earlier defeated Senegal 3-1 in the group stage, but it a was a fantastic 17th minute strike by Bernard Bulbwa that gave Nigeria the win and title as African champions.
Senegal had the first real
chance of the game when Malick Niang got through on goal but Nigeria goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo did well to thwart his effort.
Nigeria took the lead in
the 17tth minute through Bernard Bulbwa in what probably was the goal of the tournament.
The midfielder collected a

after the Nigerian goal and Sidi Sarr should have equalised after her met a corner kick unchallenged but his header came off the upright much to Enaholo’s relief.
The Young Teranga Lions
started the second half like they did the first putting the Nigerian defence under a lot of pressure.
Malick Niang had a
fantastic chance to get the hosts level two minutes after the break but Joshua Enaholo came up win a big save to tip it over the bar as Nigerian came under a barrage of attack.
Ibrahima Sy made a couple of brilliant saves as he thwarted Bernard Bulbwa in the 64th minute and was on hand later on to deny Taiwo Awoniyi in the 72 minute.
Nigeria were able to hold
off the Senegalese and saw out the game to claim her 7th and record Africa Youth title.
